Select any text above, then press Alt + E to Explain it — just like in the app.
Add WriteCrisp to your browser from the Chrome Web Store. It's lightweight and permission-optimized.
Bring your own key: any OpenAI-compatible API, Anthropic Claude, or Azure AI Foundry — or run fully local via Ollama or LM Studio on localhost. Your data stays in your infrastructure.
Pause while typing in any web editor and a subtle indicator appears. Click it, pick a mode, and review every change as a diff before accepting.
Pause typing and a subtle indicator appears after your configurable idle delay. Nothing is ever sent anywhere until you click it and choose a mode — you stay in control.
Suggestions appear as a word-level diff — deletions struck through, additions highlighted. Nothing is inserted into your text until you explicitly click Accept.
Leveraging Server-Sent Events (SSE) to stream AI suggestions word-by-word. See results in real-time, just like the demo above.
Your voice, elevated. Use the 'Custom' mode to define specific style templates, matching your unique brand voice or project needs perfectly.
Unlike traditional tools, WriteCrisp is entirely local-first. We don't store your text on our servers — we don't operate any. You bring your own API key and choose your own provider: OpenAI-compatible services, Anthropic Claude, Azure AI Foundry, or fully local models like Llama and Mistral via Ollama.
Yes. The extension does not include any tracking scripts, analytics, or background "phone-home" functionality. Your data remains strictly local and travels only directly between your browser and your configured AI endpoints.
The extension itself is free. You pay only your AI provider for the tokens you use — typically fractions of a cent per suggestion. With a local model via Ollama or LM Studio, it costs nothing at all.
WriteCrisp assists you wherever you write — email, docs, forums, AI chats — so it needs to read the text field you're editing on the page you're on. That access is used only to display the assistant locally. No page content is collected, stored, or transmitted anywhere except to the AI provider you explicitly configured, and only when you trigger a suggestion.
You need a Chromium-based browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave, etc.) and an API key for the provider you choose — any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, Anthropic Claude, or Azure AI Foundry. Local engines such as Ollama and LM Studio work too via localhost.
Built with modern vanilla technologies to ensure a lightweight footprint, zero latency, and maximum compatibility across the web.
